Happy Sun.!
Hi~ya All!
How is everyone this evening? I do hope you had a wonderful weekend and are ready for September, because it is here Tuesday. This year sure did pass quickly, summer just whizzed by. School time again, and that is exactly what our theme is at The Cuttlebug Spot "Back to School". I decided to do a School Spirit Card & created a little backpack to go along with it.
I must say I pleased with the way they both turned out. I actually made the backpack earlier during the week, and the card on Saturday. It was my first time using my Hello Kitty cartridge and I have had it since May. I must warn you, cut HK at 3 inches or larger, because those little pieces can drive you up the wall. My first cut was at 2½ inches and it was really tiny. I was on the phone with Donna M., and I was telling her that my pieces were not fitting. She said they should fit, and I guess they would have it if I had cut the right face for the HK. LOL, I had to call her back and tell her what I had done. It was only after I decided to put together the first one I had cut, that I realized it was the wrong face, so I scrapped that cut in DS, and cut her larger.
For the card I used some of my SU! DSP, and the new Journaling CB folder, which HK is mounted on. Now for the backpack I actually cut it out twice, once in cardstock, and again in SU! DSP. I wanted to use the same paper, and it needs to have cardstock for sturdiness. I am glad I started early on that, because Thursday my DS was acting weird. It would only cut up to 22% and stop. It seemed OK when I worked on this card. I am going to try the other file again tomorrow.
I had seen a manual file for the little backpack on a blog last year, but it sure makes it easier when you can use your Cricut with a cut file. My friend Jen, had created a cut file last year which she sent me, and I had never used it. So I thought this would be the perfect time to use it along with my HK cartridge. I had to make a few adjustments, but I still loved the idea of not having to manual cut it. I hope you will check out all my DT sisters creations at The Cuttlebug Spot and get inspired to play along with out challenges. Catcha later!
